Charges and Convictions

Public Access and Limits
Georgia public access rules do not make every criminal file available through one request. Georgia Open Records Act guidance and O.C.G.A. Sealed or Restricted Records
Georgia uses the term record restriction more often than expungement. GBI criminal-history restriction information points to O.C.G.A. Section 35-3-37. For arrests after July 1, 2013, GBI says there is no arresting-agency application process, and the person should contact the prosecutor. For older arrests, the person applies at the arresting agency. Court-record sealing may still require separate court action where Georgia law allows it.
